Pet Episode Record Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Pet Episode Record handles owner observation records, optional media, local reports, device permissions, and deletion.
1. Scope and purpose
Pet Episode Record is a local-first iOS record-keeping tool for dog and cat owners. It helps you save an Episode start time, record facts you directly saw or heard, keep visible phase end and return to usual baseline as separate moments, and prepare a neutral timeline or report for a veterinarian.
2. Data stored on your device
The app may store Episode records such as start and end times, durations, status, observed fact selections, source labels, retrospective edits, optional pet profile details, user-entered vet plan text, notes, report selections, and local report history. If you choose video, the app may store the resulting video and an asynchronously generated thumbnail. These records are stored in the app's local SwiftData and file storage areas.
3. Camera and microphone
Camera and microphone are optional. The app requests access only when you choose to record an Episode video. Microphone access is used only when you choose to include audio. Refusing, interrupting, or failing to save media does not end the Episode timer or remove already saved observation facts. The app does not continuously listen, record in the background, analyze audio, or analyze video.
4. Face ID and Apple services
If you enable the local privacy lock, Face ID is used by Apple's LocalAuthentication framework to unlock local records. The app uses SwiftUI, SwiftData, AVFoundation, Foundation file storage, and LocalAuthentication. It does not use iCloud or CloudKit synchronization in the current release. Apple controls the system permission prompts and the availability of these platform services.
5. What is not collected or shared
The current release does not require an account and does not send Episode records, pet names, notes, phone numbers, vet details, reports, video, thumbnails, or observation content to Qiquverse or a third-party server. It does not use third-party analytics, advertising, cross-app tracking, data brokers, external AI, or remote video/audio processing. The privacy manifest declares no collected data, no tracking, and no accessed API types.
6. Export, sharing, retention, and deletion
You may use the app's export actions to prepare local record files, media, and saved reports for sharing. After you share or save an export, the receiving app, service, or person controls that copy. In Settings, you can delete one Episode or all local records. The app's deletion flow removes related observations, pet links, vet plan links, video, thumbnails, temporary report files, and local indexes according to the record relationship. Normal iOS backups, device migration, or copies you deliberately export may retain a separate copy outside the app.
7. Sensitive and health-adjacent context
Pet observation records can be sensitive and may be used in a health-adjacent conversation with a veterinarian. Pet Episode Record does not diagnose, classify, score severity, predict, infer causes, assess medication effects, or provide treatment, dosage, first-aid, emergency-threshold, or wait advice. A record is not a substitute for professional judgment or emergency services.
8. Children and family use
The current product is not directed to children and does not provide child accounts, family cloud collaboration, public profiles, chat, or social sharing. Adults remain responsible for deciding what to record and share.
9. Security limits and changes
Local storage reduces network exposure but cannot guarantee absolute security against a compromised device, unauthorized device access, ordinary iOS backups, or copies you choose to share. We may update this policy when the product's data handling, permissions, platform dependencies, or legal obligations change. The effective date appears at the top of this page.
10. Contact
For privacy questions or deletion help, contact [email protected]. Please do not email private video, pet names, phone numbers, or medical details unless they are necessary for your request.
